REGIONAL ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

JOB SUMMARY

The Southeast Region Assistant Controller has overall responsibility for directing the accounting/financial and various administrative functions to include overseeing financial policy compliance for the Southeast and Southern Management Regions for the Janitorial South Central Super Region. Functions include coordinating and maintaining the Super Region s accounting principles, practices, procedures and initiatives. Provides financial guidance to Regional and Branch Management, Operations, and Financial service employees. Reviews financial reporting and presents findings and recommendations to Regional Management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Southeast (SE) and Southern Management (SM) financial processes to ensure a timely and accurate financial close.
* Assist the SCSR Accounting Department in the month-end closing process by reviewing and analyzing the completeness of the financial information for the SE and SM regions.
* Coordinate, analyze, and interpret accounting information at all levels within the organization in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget. Analyze other matters that may have a bearing on the financial soundness, accuracy, and operating effectiveness of the business.
* Consolidate and analyze monthly operational forecasts for accuracy and completeness.
* Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
* Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
* Collect appropriate data and prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax returns as needed.
* Build, manage and develop a world-class team of Financial Analysts, Accountants, and Administrators to drive a customer focused culture. Manage the performance of direct reports to maximize organizational impact and efficiency.
* Evaluate the SE and SM accounting structure and team. Plan for continual improvement of the efficiency of the group and provide individuals with professional and personal growth.
* Participate in the creation and development of the SE and SM annual regional budgets.
* Monitor AR and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
* Coordinate and manage SOX Compliance for the region.
* Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the SE and SM regions by working with Branch and Regional Mgmt to establish long range goals, strategies, plans and policies.
* Implement and enforce policies and procedures, by way of systems when possible, that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the region.
* Assist VP / Controller with planning, implementing, and accurate analysis of budgets, forecasts, and financial.
* Assist SE Regional VP in the day to day financial management of the SE and SM regions.

REQUIREMENTS

* A BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field required, advanced degree preferred.
* Requires 10 plus years progressively responsible general accounting experience in a multi-state environment with at least 5 years experience at the Executive level.
* Requires 10 plus years of related experience at a public company.
* CPA certification or evidence of acquiring certification a plus.
* Experience must include month-end closing processing, journal entry review, and P&L review and analysis.
* Demonstrate ability to effectively lead a large staff of direct reports, supporting a large multi-state workforce.
* Experience working with executive leadership, providing financial advice and feedback, demonstrating courage in taking a stand and the ability to influence required.
* Comfort with ambiguity and creating something new, something that does not currently exist.
* Ability to effectively lead change, synthesize complex information, resolve problems in a timely manner and inspire and motivate others to perform well.
