Creates plans and specifications for recreation projects or programs that meets the needs of the community. Arranges, participates, supervises and carries out short-term recreation programs. Organizes daily menus, prepare and serves meals. Assists supervisor in the coordination of large programs. Assists in the maintenance and operation of equipment used for recreation programs. Addresses complaints or concerns from the public; provides conflict-resolution within area of responsibility. Interacts with various groups to ensure effective use of facilities and programs. Prepares reports, memos and correspondence. Officiate recreation program games and contests. Transports participants. Assists in securing, opening and closing recreation centers. Uses existing community resources to plan activities and field trips such as athletic classes, art classes and short field trips. Registers participants and collects fees as required. Promotes program activities through the development and distribution of informational materials. Maintains records about program activities and participants. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Reports work progress periodically. Provides instruction of available recreation programs and classes. Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service. Performs other related duties as assigned.
|Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:|
Knowledge of principles and practices of recreational programming in area of assignment. Knowledge of record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques. Knowledge of rules and regulations of athletic and recreational games. Knowledge of food preparation, maintenance of kitchen supplies, accessories and equipment. Skill in cooking and preparing meals for the program. Skill in organizing and serving scheduled meals. Skill in cleaning. Skill in officiating sporting events. Skill in problem solving and decision-making. Skill in understanding, interpreting and communicating complicated policies, procedures and protocols. Skill in oral and written communication.
|Minimum Educational and Training Requirements:|
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service. Must possess a valid driver's license.
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color. The employee working conditions are typically noisy.
