JOB TITLE: Code Welder/Fabricator

Normal Work Schedule:
The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and, while generally as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required. Overtime may be scheduled daily and can only be worked as approved by the supervisor.
Hours of Work: First shift, generally 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as scheduled by management with overtime as needed.
Second shift, generally 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight as scheduled by management with overtime as needed.
Days of Work: Normally Monday through Friday as scheduled by management. Daily overtime, weekend and holidays if needed by operations and approved by management.
Basic Function: Fabricate, layout, position, align, and fit parts of structural metal products.
- Must know and understand how to use the Kronos time keeping system.
- Must be proficient with cutting torch and be able to carbon arc gouge.
- Must be able to use and read measuring devices such as tape measures, level, etc.
- Must be able to read, understand, and work from blueprints and/or process sheets.
- Must display basic welding skills and show willingness and desire to learn welding trade.
- Within given time frame must be able to pass basic ASME certification tests.
- Must know, understand, and abide by all plant safety rules and regulations.
- Perform any other job duties as directed by Cell Leader or Foreman.
High school education or GED equivalent preferred. Must have good reading, writing and math skills. Technical training at an accredited school preferred.
Technical training from an accredited school or six (6) months of related welding experience.
Trainee position that requires very limited decision-making. All questions should be directed to trainer, Cell Leader or Foreman.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. chest high on a regular basis. Must be able to work up to 12 hours standing and walking on hard cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat and climb ladders up to 8 feet high. Will require working in areas up to 15 feet from the ground. Must be able to climb stairs and work in temperature ranges corresponding with the outside ambient temperatures.
Must be able to access all areas of the plant both inside and outside. Will be exposed to noise, dust, and dirt, welding fumes and machine lubricants and/or oils. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes and fall protection.
