Overall Job Objective

Position Information

The annual salary range for this position $38,536.00-$59,731.00 DOQ.

Job Summary

Plans, organizes, manages, and coordinates activities, assignments and project planning related to the maintenance construction and relocation of water systems, telecommunications, fiber, natural gas, etc. and all other utilities within the County's right of way.
 
Supervises, directs assigned staff order to ensure the effectiveness and alignments to established goals and objectives.
 
Interprets, applies, explains, and ensures compliance with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, specifications, standards, policies and procedures; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
 
Performs inspections of utility construction/installation projects conducted by outside contractors, including water, sewer, electric, telephone, cable, and gas utility projects; verifies placement of utilities at proper corridor and depth; ensures adherence to applicable erosion control measures prior to, during, and after construction; determines whether projects are in compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and approved construction plans.
 
Provides information and technical assistance concerning utility construction/installation requirements and related issues; responds to questions or complaints concerning violations; provides information, researches problems, and initiates problem resolution.
 
This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position which is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes utility construction project inspection, utility project coordination, and erosion/sediment control; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
 
Familiarity with Georgia Utilities Permitting System and working knowledge of the Utility Accommodation Policy and Standards required. 

Experience with the Georgia Utilities Coordinating Council and/or Utility Location and Coordination Council of the American Public Works Association preferred.
