MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Power & Recovery Supervisor is responsible for supervising shift team operations in the Power & Recovery department. This position provides leadership and supervision for the power house operating crews, supports the operating crews’ contribution to achieving the power house objectives, and facilitates sound business decisions. The Power & Recovery Supervisor is accountable for the daily coordination of available mill resources to ensure continuity of power house operations.

The primary focus of the Power & Recovery Supervisor is to support the immediate needs of the mill through supervision of the employee crews, on a rotating shift basis, to maintain a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation to achieve maximum quality production at minimum cost.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Responsible for direct supervision of production crew utilizing competencies of successful first line leader (see competencies below).
  • Provide for development and implementation of training for direct reports.
  • Responsible for safe work environment, including conducting daily safety meetings, observations and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Encourages and motivates crew members to complete on-shift safe behavior observations.
  • Provide documentation/record keeping for training and qualifications.
  • Assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding established production and quality goals.
  • Audit work systems to ensure consistent operation (rounds, logs, check sheets, inspection procedures, TCC’s etc.)
  • Increase crew engagement.
  • Direct maintenance tasks to be completed on shift.
  • Effective communication and production planning between departments.
  • Annual outage support and routine outage support.
  • Conducting one-to-ones with direct reports.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 - 5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in a power and recovery operation

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, equivalent power and recovery experience will also be considered

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (hard hat, earplugs, steel-toed boots, safety glasses at a minimum)
  • Ability to operate or work in industrial conditions - may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.
  • Ability to move wrists, hands, and/or fingers to turn valves and make adjustments to equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
