Job Description

General Summary:

Support logistics operation for  KMMG Material Handling internal and external logistics services.  Provide support for contract agreement management and monthly budget reporting, logistics  optimization/utilization, and determine material flow for KMMG assembly areas and most efficient logistics practices to promote quality and cost.


ESSENTIAL PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to accountabilities below):

Contract management of agreement for consolidation center and off site logistics service provider . Evaluate requirements of: facility, equipment, manpower, processes, and operational costs. Provide monthly report and annual report regarding invoicing and cost.

Determine and audit headcount and manpower analysis in labor and management to avoid waste and duplication and most effective use.

Maintain KMMG Supplier Packaging Guide and Standards and publish to the organization and Suppliers as updates and standards change. Post and make available for the organization to access at all times.

Evaluate Material handling logistics flow between KMMG and logistics center  to include carts , containers, best routing logic to maximize quality and efficiency.

Work closely with Material Control, Overseas Supplier and Overseas Packing Center to ensure that packaging and container design/dunnage meets optimization requirements to minimize manpower while preserving overall parts quality.

Recommend and Audit Safety practices and policies of Logistics provider to maintain Safety standards  and protect Team Members and Safe uninterrupted operation of KMMG and Logistics provider  . Safety standards should meet and or exceed local and federal government standards and regulations .

Produce and maintain ongoing visual controls within KMMG for receiving, line side rack locations, and column locations and floor layouts and containers. 

Investment and Operation expense tracking and approval recommendations for onsite and offsite facility sequencing and logistics support. Tracking to include monthly, annual requirements for historical and trend analysis.

Maintain BMS database for Production Control and create BMS work processes, procedures and forms in the database for department use and compliance of process.

Ensure that suppliers’ and logistics provider’s  bar code labeling on returnables, racks, parts are  compliant and consistent to KMMG Production Control standards for receiving and sequence needs.

Support and maintain sequence data information for racking and delivery totes.  Interact with IT department to support correct parts  by model and rack configuration and Sequence Data.

Report root cause/countermeasure on out-of-standard conditions within Material Handling core responsibilities to Assistant Manager/Manager and work directly with other affected Department towards resolution. 

Departmental Finance and Purchasing, processing of documents and system input to secure the needs of the Section and Department.  This includes but is not limited to Autoway, Vaatz, SAP, manual documents. Follow up to ensure goods and services are received and paid as administratively possible within the KMMG procurement system for those goods and services as needed.



QUALIFICATIONS and JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Competencies):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field along with two (2) to five (5) years of progressive experience in the Material Handling field in a manufacturing environment preferably within the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in working with a third party automotive logistics supplier.
  • International travel is required.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in both exercising company decisions and carrying out essential job duties that affect efficient business operations and its objectives, policies, practices, and conditions.

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Experience with SAP system preferred.
  • Auto Cad or similar plotting interface within a SAP business environment.
