As a core member of the Global Technology Strategy and Innovation Office, the Lead Global Technology Strategy and Innovation serves as key partner to ensure alignment, accountability and focus needed for effective execution of critical R&D technology strategies and innovation to deliver growth.

The Lead Global Technology Strategy and Innovation will oversee research, strategy, and applied technology for innovations that pertain to driving future growth in both new and existing markets. This includes understanding trends in the utility market or adjacencies to determine future products and services for regional or global use. This role works closely with a wide variety of customers by supporting the regions in key pursuits to help customers understand Landis+Gyr’s technology vision. As the subject matter expert, the Lead Global Technology Strategy and Innovation must understand customer pain points to create a Landis+Gyr solution that meets those requirements, looking for commonality across regions to promote reuse of the portfolio.

Core area of responsibility

  • Responsible for the design and development of proof-of-concepts to demonstrate and evaluate the worthiness of technologies to drive portfolio roadmaps and ultimately enable regional businesses to secure new customer wins
  • Serve as a technology expert to the R&D and Product Management organizations to ensure innovation concepts are clearly translated into product requirements and monetized accordingly
  • Responsible for formalizing work plans and directing their implementation in order to meet company goals and directives
  • Make recommendations and implements procedures to maximize departmental operating performance
  • Work directly with the Project Management group to provide definition of project goals, clear communication of status, remediation plans to solve problems, and expertise to projects
  • Ensure that products meet schedule and cost goals
  • Provides technical expertise and consulting to customers, sales staff, marketing, engineering, and other departments
  • Communicate department activities and performance data including product quality, product reliability, and product performance
  • Technical Leadership: Serves as the technical authority in areas of specialty on assigned projects
  • Ensure that product development processes are followed from concept through production
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry as well as function technology and trends
  • Provide support to the Project Management group with planning and managing product development projects
  • Provide technical management of projects to standards that ensure all products meet or exceed all applicable quality, environmental and regulatory standards

Required Experience

Educational / professional qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field (i.e. Business, Engineering, IT)
  • Track record of working in global organizations with more than 15 years of work experience in R&D, Strategic Planning, Technology Innovation and Ecosystems
  • Specialization in complex multi-million dollar programs and with advanced technologies
  • Position may require some travel to vendor sites as well as between Landis+Gyr locations to meet with project teams, external partners and/or business customers.
