To keep school systems automotive equipment in such a state of operating excellence that it presents no problems or interruptions to the education program. To assist in the maintenance and repair of Systems vehicles so they provide reliable service in support of System objectives.
1.Diesel experience required.
2.ASE certification a plus.
3.Applicant must have valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger, air Brakes, and School Bus
Endorsements or must be willing to train for Commercial Driver’s License within 30 days of hire date.
4.Appropriate driving record.
5.Such alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools find appropriate and acceptable.
6.High School Diploma or GED.
7.Minimum three (3) years successful experience as auto service worker.
8.Valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement (may obtain within one (1) year).
9.Automotive Service Excellence Certification in Heavy Truck, School Bus, and Paint and Body Work preferred.
Prompt and regular attendance.
Performs mechanical repairs and maintenance work on buses and automotive vehicles.
Performs preventative engine maintenance and repair work as needed.
Tracks all preventatives as well as repair work performed.
Performs safety inspections as required on all vehicles.
Maintains all shop tools, equipment, and areas in safe working condition.
Tests, adjusts, and repairs ignition systems.
Analyzes and repair fuel systems.
Tests, analyzes and services the emission control system.
Conducts diagnosis and repair of cooling system.
Tests and repairs the vehicle exhaust system.
Tests tire for safety and balances tire with tire balancing machine.
Identifies all different sizes and classifications of wheels.
Tests battery voltage in conjunction with amperage draw.
Services and cleans battery.
Repairs wiring or wiring harness.
Inspects and repairs front end suspension systems.
Inspects and repairs steering systems.
Performs drive line/differential repair and replacement.
Conducts engine mechanical diagnoses.
Inspects and conducts maintenance on engine.
Repairs cylinder head and valve train.
Applies electrical safety rules and procedures.
Applies fire safety rules and procedures.
Applies personal safety rules and procedures.
Applies shop safety rules and procedures.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent of Schools.
Terms of Employment:
Compensation shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule and school calendar. The length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by Liberty County School system.
