    Responsibilities

    The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the health care team to provide the physical and psychosocial needs of the residents while insuring that a clean, neat and safe environment is maintained. The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible to the Director of Nursing and supervised by an LPN or RN. Accountability is monitored through performance evaluation, direct observation, incident reports, and resident/family comments.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION

    Completion of an approved nurse aide training program

    CERTIFICATION

    Registered with the Nurse Aide Registry (NAR) in the State of Georgia

    Obtains/maintains CPR skills.

    EXPERIENCE

    Long-term care preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Ability to read and write English; perform simple arithmetic calculations; and follow written and verbal English language instructions.

    Basic knowledge of growth and development relevant to the ages of the residents served.

    Basic knowledge of the diseases and health care needs of the resident population served.

    Ability to think critically and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities in resident care.

    High level of interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively as a team member on a team with varying levels of health care workers.

    Problem solving skills sufficient to allow effective problem/conflict resolution.

    Demonstrated traits of initiative and dependability required.

    Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.

    Physical Abilities:

    Stand for long periods, 6-8 hours

    Sit for extended periods of time

    Bend and stoop

    Walk for long periods

    Lift and position of residents, not to exceed 40 lbs.

    Heavy equipment/supplies up to 40 lbs. (will transport residents, supplies and equipment)

    Sensory: Sight to observe residents symptoms

    Auditory to hear residents, measure Blood Pressure, alarms

    Tactile to feel residents symptoms (warmth, induration)

    Olfactory to smell disease-specific smell, safety hazards.
