  • Responsibilities

    The Technical Application Specialist will solve problems independently and within established policies and procedures. Their primary objective is to do what it takes to ensure customer satisfaction within the regulations of an accredited clinical laboratory. They are responsible for managing their customer base and maintaining the Laboratory Outreach client's satisfaction. Orchestrate implementation plans with customers for new accounts, interfaces and service plans. Facilitate training rotations and schedules both for lab employee orientation and skills training for specimen collections and POC testing for the required new hospital staff as well as periodically required renewal training for lab and hospital staff. Assist in facilitating the proper outreach client support for technical issues and customer service related concerns. They will also serve as a resource for the Laboratory Quality Management Program. The individual would provide direction to staff members to ensure maximum efficient and productivity for areas they are responsible for. The individual is responsible for meeting compliance standards of regulatory agencies and ensuring that the administrative and technical performance commitment meets departmental standards. The position interacts with all laboratory sections, several hospital divisions, all nursing units, patients, medical staff members, outreach clients, and the community. The individual addresses, investigates, corrects, replies, documents and monitors concerns when they arise by means of the QARM system.


    BS in Medical Technology required.

    Must meet all State and CLIA requirements for a supervisory position.

    A minimum of five years of laboratory experience required.?Some experience in education is preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Substantial interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, required in order to interact with hospital staff, physicians, and patients to perform duties as listed in functions above.

    An excellent in-depth technical knowledge of the laboratory section operations, as well as, the ability to exercise sound independent judgement is required in order to ensure efficient utilization of technical resources.

    A high level of professionalism, initiative, and resourcefulness required in order to lead, develop, and motivate staff in problem solving issues.

    Strong presentation skills

    Computer literacy skills in Windows NT, Lotus Notes, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

    Physical Demands
    Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the department and hospital campus. Ability to reach with hands and arms. Sensory ability: sight to see computer screen; auditory to hear speech and understand speech in person and on the phone. Must be able to operate a hospital vehicle. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
